Diary for my Ecuador Trip with GVI

Week in Quito

Its been an interesting and fun week in Quito,All the  group have  finally arrived and all really nice and we are having a laugh. After the  initial problems of  getting of the Altitude – which will always  cause  some  issues  which you  just have to get used too. Quito is a huge city that  is  nestled in a  valley surrounded by mountains and old volcanoes and is about nine and a half to ten thousand feet above sea level.

Today we went up the Teleferico which  is a  cable car that  takes you  12 and a half  thousand feet up a volcano and  you get amazing views and can do some fantastic walks. I spotted a  few  different birds, butterflies and  lots of lovely flowers and plants.

In the afternoon 11  of us went to the Equator Museum  Real one as with with the  use of gps they discovered the monument  was actually about 500 meters  away from Equator. At the Equator we learnt all about  how the sun and the earth forces act  on the Equator and Yes water  does flow either clockwise or anti clockwise depending where you are it is  no myth, we did many other fun tests and also  learnt  about the culture etc of Indigenous people.
